Fix Camera App Freezing On iPhone 6 And 6 Plus

A new bug found on the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus camera app after users of those superb phones reporting they can't use the camera app anymore because each time they try to open it they find the camera app is freezing and the screen become black.

Other users who own the smartphone also have reported other phenomena like when they try to take a picture, they find the photographs don't rotate to the right orientation.

The culprit of the said problems are purely technical, you can say it's something that you probably did to your phone. Or you still stick to the older version of iOS, or it could be because other reasons.

So whatever the reasons might be, here I am offering you the workarounds you can apply to get your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus out from the misery of having a camera app freezing and black screen or mistakenly rotate to incorrect orientation.

Here you can apply each workaround offered below, try the first one, if it fail to get rid the problem, continue to the second, and the third workaround if the second still fail.

Workaround 1. Try to update your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus to the newer iOS firmware version.

The existing camera freezes problem could be relating to the iOS version you are using, you are recommended to perform update. Just check iTunes to find the available update for you or using OTA via Settings -> General -> Software Update, if you find there is one, just hit the Update button. But let me remind you this action will restore your jailbreak utility if your phone is jailbroken.

Updating via iTunes can be done simply by plugging your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus to computer (Windows or Mac), then open iTunes, choose your iPhone model from the menu then update to newer version of iOS. And wait for the updating to finish. Check whether your camera app work after applying the step.

Workaround 2. Try to reset the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus

Resetting your iPhone can do the trick for you. Many users have found success with it. Before you move ahead with this process, you need to know that resetting will make some minor changes with your phone. Though it won’t delete any files or photos.

The second workaround I can offer and recommend to you is to reset your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus, usually this method solves most of technical problems occur on the smartphone. And apparently number of users have given this workaround a try and end up successful get riding off the camera app freezing.

So it's worthy of try, however be sure to firstly backup all the existing data within your iPhone storage, albeit this action won't wipe out your data, but who knows 'thing' could happen.

  1. Power on your iPhone then go to Settings.
  2. Now tap General.
  3. Search for the Reset, once you found it just tap it.
  4. Then continue your action with select and click this; Reset All Settings.
  5. Well done! Your phone will now resetting its self to its original condition.

Workaround 3. Restore Your iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

If the camera freezing problem still persists after you applied all those two workarounds, then this what can I recommend you, you can get rid off the problem by restoring your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus. In many cases this is effective trick to solve many problems in iOS device. So there is nothing wrong to apply it also.

But remember that restoring will make your data deleted, I suggest you to back them up first before performing the restorations toward your iDevice. You can use iCloud to do the job, by simply going to Settings -> iCloud.

  1. Plug your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus to computer (Windows or Mac OS).
  2. Now open iTunes.
  3. Choose your iPhone mode from the provided menu.
  4. Then Restore it.
  5. Done!
