Solutions If Your iPhone Is Not Detected By Windows Computer

Some of iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch owners might experienced or currently experiencing that their iOS devices are not not detected by Windows, or Windows can detect your device but the files / contents within your device can not be accessed by iTunes.


So what is the cause of the problem and how to solve it? This post will put across all the tips and tutorials you certainly need to make Windows computer detect your iPhone.

I will explain the most basic yet legit methods to fix the problem and all you need to do just read and practice the methods by yourself.

If you are now facing the above mentioned problems, I highly suggest you to not do one or all the following actions.

  • Erase All Content and Settings
  • Restore
How I suggest you not to? Here they are.

Erase All Content and Settings

Is indeed a danger if your device is jailbroken. Doing Erase All Content and Settings will cause your iOS device unable to boot normally, and if a device can not boot normally must be restored.

Restore

Restore will indeed solve the problem, but it also wipe out all your data -- unless you have made a necessary backup. And as for a jailbroken iPhone it is better not to perform "restore' as it will kick out the jailbreak ability.

So how to solve the problem of iPhone or iPad can not be detected by Windows, or iTunes can detect the content / files inside our iOS device?

Here I offer you to solutions based on your problem. iPhone Is Not Detected By Computer
If Windows computer can not detect your iPhone or iPad, please to follow the following steps below.

Step 1. Make sure you have installed Apple Mobile Device Support (AMDS) on your computer. Apple Mobile Device Support is a driver developed by Apple for the company's mobile device. To check whether you have it installed or not, by going to the following steps;
  • Windows XP, Klik Start > Control Panel,  enter to Add or Remove Programs and check whether Apple Mobile Device Support is included on the already installed program shown in the list.
  • Windows 7, Klik Start > Control Panel, enter to Programs and Features menu and check whether Apple Mobile Device Support is included on the already installed program shown in the list.
Step 2. If you don't see the Apple Mobile Device Support then you must firstly delete the following softwares;
  • iTunes, 
  • QuickTime, 
  • Apple Software Update 
  • Apple Application Support, 
  • And then reinstall the iTunes.
Step 3. Restart Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS), how to restart it? Then you can see the steps on the Apple support page here for Windows XP and Windows 7.
Step 4. Replace the data cable you use to use with the new cable.
Note. For jailbroken iPhone or iPad users who experience this problem because of hard resetting their device, then you can use SnowBreeze because in the tool there is iReb to force your computer to read DFU driver from iPhone.
