Is indeed a danger if your device is jailbroken. Doing Erase All Content and Settings will cause your iOS device unable to boot normally, and if a device can not boot normally must be restored.

Solutions if iPhone or iPad can not be detected by Windows computer
Step 1. Make sure you have installed Apple Mobile Device Support (AMDS) on your computer. Apple Mobile Device Support is a driver developed by Apple for the company's mobile device. To check whether you have it installed or not, by going to the following steps;
- Windows XP, Klik Start > Control Panel, enter to Add or Remove Programs and check whether Apple Mobile Device Support is included on the already installed program shown in the list.
- Windows 7, Klik Start > Control Panel, enter to Programs and Features menu and check whether Apple Mobile Device Support is included on the already installed program shown in the list.
- Apple Software Update
- Apple Application Support,
- And then reinstall the iTunes.
Step 4. Replace the data cable you use to use with the new cable.
